Slot Size In Concrete Fence Posts
These posts are concrete, with one shaped pyramid end, and one sloping end, giving you a choice of fence design. The measurements above are in millimetres – mm. The finished size is 87x100mm, with a slot depth of 20mm. 80x100mm Concrete Slotted posts are the long lasting alternative to timber posts. Each post is in the shape of an H allowing a panel to be dropped into each channel. The size of the post is detailed in the image shown, each has four internal steel reinforcing bars. Rest assured all of our fencing panels will fit into the slot.
Precast Concrete Fence Post
Ensure that the posts are the correct length for the height of fence being erected. This is especially important when the fence line is progressed along uneven ground (longer posts will be required). 20N concrete at 18″ deep should be placed around posts except for end, corner or strainer posts where holes should be filled to the top. The Fastest (and Most Foolproof) Way to Install Fence Posts For fence posts that are firmly set and straight, all you need is a good technique, a helpful friend, and the right products. The slot runs the entire length of the post, allowing you to simply slide the panel into place, and even step panels at different heights on sloping ground! Our most popular concrete product, the intermediate post, has slots on both sides, creating a seamless finish between two panels.
Fencing can often be one of the biggest hurdles for contractors, new developers, and those with large tracts of land who wish to secure their properties. Far too often do we see developers and HOAs opting for metal or wood fence post with matching fencing which essentially gets the job done but without the added protections that a precast concrete fence post provides.
Concrete fence posts are becoming a popular choice because they:
- Become stronger with age
- Cannot be damaged by fire and weeds along the fence line can be burned without damaging the posts
- Are not affected by weather, insects, or fungi
- Will not rot which, in turn, reduces the expense and time of replacement
- Are uniform in size and shape and are easily lined and set to produce an attractive appearance
- Stay put while offering a sense of permanency
Concrete fence posts were originally used by railroad companies to mark their right of ways and farmers quickly followed suit. A precast concrete fence post was eventually developed for use in vineyards to support grapevines citing that the concrete fence posts would typically outlast the vineyard. Examples of an early precast fence post can be found in older areas of the United States and abroad where wire fencing is strung between a series of posts to create a “concrete fencing.”
